Days 134 – 141 Battambang to Bangkok

February 22nd to 29th 560km

We enjoyed our couple of rest days in Battambang. We did some sightseeing, but also spent a lot of time relaxing, eating, and figuring out a plan for our first week in Thailand. We had a really great last night there, having a couple of sundowner beers next to the river then dinner, before an early night, as we wanted to hit the road in good time before the sun got too hot.

Cambodia in Summary

As Andy mentioned in the previous blog, it was hard to decide when I was ready to get back on the road. We both knew it was more a matter of when rather than if as my family had always been 100% behind the trip and I couldn’t let my lovely husband down, plus of course I also wanted to continue.

Days 124 – 132 Siem Reap & Angkor Wat to Battambang

February 12th – 20th. siem reap – Battambang 262km

We’re back. After 6 weeks back in the UK with family we made the hard decision to head back to Asia and continue the trip.

We’d almost reached the Vietnam border when we flew home from China last year, packing up our bikes and all our panniers and taking them with us. This at least gave us the flexibility to fly back to wherever we wanted to, whenever we were in a position to continue. We’d planned to spend the winter months cycling in South East Asia so looking at our rough timescale, Vietnam was cut out and we flew into Cambodia, meaning we could rejoin roughly in the same place as we would’ve been.
